India VS Ankai: Sodium Feldspar Performance Comparison

December 10 , 2024

In the mineral materials market, Sodium Feldspar plays an important role in ceramics, glass, refractory materials and other fields due to its unique chemical composition and physical properties. Recently, we conducted an in-depth comparison between sodium feldspar from India and sodium feldspar products carefully crafted by Henan Ankai New Materials Co., Ltd., aiming to fully reveal the subtle differences and unique advantages of the two in terms of chemical composition, physical properties and practical application value.

Chemical composition comparison

  • Sodium oxide (Na₂O) content:

India sodium feldspar: Its sodium oxide content is about 8% or 10% ± 0.5%, which provides good melting performance and reactivity.

Henan Ankai sodium feldspar: The sodium oxide content is 11%, slightly higher than that of Indian products, which means that under the same conditions, Henan Ankai’s products may have higher melting speed and better glass forming ability.

  • Iron oxide (Fe₂O₃) content:

India sodium feldspar: Fe₂O₃ content is controlled at 0.08% max or 0.1% ± 0.05%, ensuring the whiteness and purity of the product.

Henan Ankai sodium feldspar: Fe₂O₃ content is 0.12% ± 0.05%, which is slightly higher than the upper limit of Indian products, but still at an extremely low level, with limited impact on the color and transparency of the product. It is worth noting that Ankai’s products give a clear tolerance range on this indicator, reflecting the stability and controllability of its production process.

  • Silica (SiO₂) content:

India sodium feldspar: SiO₂ content is about 70%, which is the main component of the mineral skeleton.

Henan Ankai sodium feldspar: SiO₂ content is 65-67%, which is slightly lower than Indian products, but combined with its higher Al₂O₃ content, the overall performance can be balanced.

  • Aluminum trioxide (Al₂O₃) content:

India sodium feldspar: Al₂O₃ content is 14-16% or 16-18%, providing good hardness and chemical stability.

Henan Ankai sodium feldspar: Al₂O₃ content is 20%±1%, which is significantly higher than Indian products, enhancing the high temperature resistance and mechanical strength of the product.

Physical properties and application advantages

  • Fast combustion and cost savings

Henan Ankai’s Sodium Feldspar products have the property of burning quickly at lower temperatures, which helps reduce energy consumption and costs during the production process. This feature is particularly important for industries such as ceramics and glass that require high-temperature melting.

  • High transparency and light transmittance

Henan Ankai’s Sodium Feldspar products have high transparency and have the characteristics of diopside with good light transmittance. This gives the product significant advantages in high-end application fields such as the production of transparent ceramics and glass artworks.

  • No free silicon

Henan Ankai’s Sodium Feldspar products do not contain free silicon, which helps reduce pollution and safety hazards during the production process while improving product purity and stability.

Price and market competition

In terms of price, the price range of Indian Sodium Feldspar is FOB 100-150 USD/ton, while Henan Ankai Sodium Feldspar, as a local product, has natural advantages in logistics costs, delivery time and after-sales service, and its price competitiveness may vary due to market changes.

In summary, the Sodium Feldspar products produced by Henan Ankai New Materials Co., Ltd. have excellent performance in chemical composition, physical properties and application value. In particular, its high Al₂O₃ content, fast burning characteristics and high transparency make it have broad market prospects in high-end application fields.
